Microsoft is believed to be developing the next generation of its Office productivity suite and the same is in the final stage of its milestone build. In this context, various sources familiar with Microsoft's product plans have informed that the final beta of this new productivity suite which is codenamed 'Office 15' is scheduled for release towards the end of January 2012. According to WinRumours, a Technology Preview of the Beta 1 milestone of the said 'Office 15' edition can be expected to be made available on CES 2012. In this event, it is also expected that the beta release of the Windows 8 operating system would also be unveiled.

Microsoft Office 15 Beta will feature a new redesigned interface with simplified layout. A new tiled based user interface is also said to be included in the form of an application called Moorea. This Metro UI in Office 15 is intended to offer quick navigation to important features all tilled up in a single place. Although the exact feature list is not known as of now but it is likely to support touch functionality and Outlook Web Access enhancement. An improved meeting system in Outlook 15 is also expected that might offer a complete new experience by combining various features like Outlook invitation, PowerPoint Presentation, OneNote notes etc. for online meeting purpose. Collaboration in creating office documents using the cloud for co-authorship is another feature expected out of this upcoming productivity suite and it may perhaps be more useful for creating documents in mobile or portable devices while on the move.
Even though Microsoft may be putting more focus in its cloud server business and in Office 365 applications that enables online editing and use of Office products, but these productivity suite will still continue to be used in PCs in large numbers. Having the insight that both Windows 8 Beta and Office 15 beta might be released during the same period or time-frame on 2012, it will indeed be anticipated with great agog by the Windows users and only after its release it will be clear in real terms as to what new features and services it will offer in these upcoming editions of Microsoft Office. Nevertheless, Office 15 or Microsoft Office 2012 will certainly turn out to be a complete new product with next generation user experience and together with Windows 8 OS, we can expect a new dimension of Windows Computing in the coming days.
The release date of Microsoft Office 15 or Office 2012 is not officially announced but it is expected that the product will be introduced as beta release within the Q1 2012.
